"The latest single from Bellows has a distinctly John Martyn feel to it. Atmospheric & entrancing...a poet & short story writer as well as a musician Bellows has produced three fine albums...on the basis of this song, he needs further investigation" —FATEA

Hearing Shara Nova (My Brightest Diamond) popping up in various musical projects recently has been a delightful surprise. Having just released ‘The Blue Hour‘, she’s now made a lovely collaboration with Nathaniel Bellows. Bellows, three albums into a fantastic solo career leads the collaboration with his trademark rustic vocals and beautiful guitar work. The track ‘Well Water’ features hushed acoustic guitar, muted drums and long rolling cymbals as Nathaniel nurses his indie folk croon. Shara Nova provides distant backing vocals that echo behind Bellows. It almost sounds like she’s down inside the well and her voice echoes like a distant penny thrown down said well for a wish.

What makes this partnership work so well is the juxtaposition between the hoarse and weather-worn folk of Nathaniel and the smooth angelic air of Shara. I could happily listen to a full release of these two working off of each other in this way. Enjoy ‘Well Water’ below – the single is out now. Did someone say Nick Cave and PJ Harvey? —Higher Plain Music

'“The latest single from Nathaniel Bellows features the vocals of Shara Nova, giving a complete contrast to the deep growling vocals of Bellows. The New York singer-songwriter is found in a pensive mood contemplating what it is that makes us us, what it is to live, and what, if anything, is the purpose that we should be striving to find. And are any of the answers we find any more enlightening than “that one holiday with the lights and the dying tree.” Something to think on.” —Americana UK

“A darkly sung, fingerpicked number accompanied by rumbling distant drums and choral vocals by My Brightest Diamond vocalist Shara Nova, as, somewhat evocative of Cohen.” —Folkling
